This floor underneath has two finishes, one being standard Powerfloated floor (shiny) the other finish is what we call a smooth powerfloat finish, the reason behind not shining it up is so that a hard flooring/carpet can be stuck down. If the floor is too smooth/shiny the hard flooring would not adhere.

Brush Work

brushed finish is a type of concrete finish that gives you a rough texture on the surface of a concrete floor. This finish is applied by dragging a stiff-bristled broom or brush across a fresh concrete surface. This finish is advised for for anywhere with pedestrians walkways or big yards as it provides excellent grip when wet or icy.

Skip/easy float

A skip float finish is a wet finish that is achieved by pushing a float trowel over the concrete surface to help close in any holes that are in the surface.  This finish is normally used when the concrete is being covered up, with such things as hard flooring or carpets. The results are a smooth finish.

Screed

Screeded floors are ideal to use in areas where a smooth, level surface is neededThey are commonly used in residential buildings, particularly in areas where underfloor heating is being installed. Screeded floors are used on the ground level and as a sub-floor for other building materials such as carpeting, tiles, etc.
